Less than 50 journeys a day are made through London’s least used station, new figures have revealed.
Sudbury and Harrow Road – a station on the Chiltern Railways line from London Marylebone – was used for just 18,680 passenger exits and entrances between April 2023 and March 2024.
And the lack of people using the station is perhaps unsurprising. Currently, only eight trains a day call at the station – and none stop there at the weekend.
The new figures, revealed by the Office of Rail and Road (ORR), also show that passenger numbers at the station are declining.
In the 12 months up to March 2023, 19,778 journeys were made through Sudbury and Harrow Road’s ticket barriers.
That year, Drayton Park, a Great Western Railway station near Ealing, took home the crown as London’s quietest station – but it has since added more than 4,000 trips.
Despite this, it still ranked as the second least used station in the capital this time around.
All of the top ten quietest stations were places only called at by either Chiltern Railways, Great Western Railway or Govia Thameslink Railways (which also runs Southern and Great Northern services).
The least used Underground station was Greenford on the Central line.
Emerson Park in Hornchurch, which sits on the newly named Liberty line between Romford and Upminster, saw the fewest London Overground journeys last year.
In contrast, London Liverpool Street retained the title of the UK’s busiest station, recording almost 100 million station exits and entrances last year.
The ten least used station across London – and a couple of honourable mentions – are listed below.
1. Sudbury and Harrow Road (18,680 journeys, Chiltern Railways)
2. Drayton Green (20,198 journeys, Great Western Railway)
3. South Greenford (38,330 journeys, Great Western Railway)
