A woman shouted “my baby’s been shot" after an eight-year-old girl and a man were seriously injured in a double shooting in Ladbroke Grove.

Witnesses told the Evening Standard they heard four gunshots followed by the woman's cries after the incident on Southern Row just after 5.30pm yesterday (November 24).

Officers and London Ambulance Service crews attended the scene, where they found a 34-year-old man and a girl who had been shot.

The pair were taken to hospital for treatment.

The girl's injuries were later assessed as non-life-threatening, while the man suffered potentially life-changing injuries.

Speaking about the incident, Deepa Subramaniyan, physiotherapist for children who has a clinic in the area said: “I don’t live here but my clinic is here, and I can’t access it.

“I might have to do remote calls somewhere else.

“It’s shocking because whenever you hear something like this happen.”

A two-year-old child was also in the car when the gunman opened fire but was unhurt.

A 32-year-old woman was taken to hospital as a precaution, though she was not injured.

A 22-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Muraad Haad told the Brent and Kilburn Times: “This is the 3rd time there’s been a shooting here”

“It’s not a safe area, it’s not safe, otherwise there wouldn’t be shootings here”

A man, who wishes to be kept anonymous, said: “Oh wow, it’s always this area. This is the second or third time. This happened not too long ago.

"It is scary, but what can you do? It's horrifying to hear."

Another woman, who wishes to be kept anonymous, said: “So many times I just don’t feel comfortable letting my sister out to go to the shops.

"The thing about this place is there’s always something happening.”

Uber driver Ali Hussien, 52, a father-of-five, told the Evening Standard: “I heard four or five bangs. I thought it was fireworks.

“There were suddenly police everywhere. Now I know it was a shooting. It’s very scary.

“Especially as I have children. I have a daughter, 9, so I fear for my children. The police do their best but there is a lot of crime.”

Superintendent Owen Renowden said on Monday: “This is an appalling incident that has left two people seriously injured, including a young girl who thankfully is in a stable condition this morning.

“I am appealing to the public who may have been in the area at the time of the shooting.

“Did you hear any gunshots around 5.30pm yesterday evening? Did you see anyone fleeing from the area?

“We are keen to hear from anyone who may have any information surrounding this incident. Your information matters, no matter how insignificant you may think it is.”
