A controlled explosion has been carried out outside the US Embassy in London after a suspicious package was found.
Multiple police cordons have been put in place outside the embassy in Nine Elms since around 9am today (November 22).
Police have confirmed that a “loud bang' reported in the area was from a controlled explosion.

LIVE updates as US Embassy in London 'locked down' due to 'suspect package'
Nearby roads have been closed to traffic and pedestrians as the incident is being dealt with by police.
It is unknown when the incident will be stood down.
A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “We’re aware of speculation online about an incident in the vicinity of the US Embassy in Nine Elms. Cordons are in place in the area as a precaution while officers investigate a suspect package.
“We can confirm that the 'loud bang' reported in the area a short time ago was a controlled explosion carried out by officers.
“Enquiries are still ongoing and cordons will remain in place for the time being.
The full statement from US Embassy says: “Local authorities are investigating a suspicious package outside the US Embassy in London.
“Met Police are present and have closed Ponton Road out of an abundance of caution.
“We will provide further updates when available. Please monitor Met Police for updates.”
