A man has been charged after a woman was killed in a "hit-and-run" crash in Kingsbury.
Jermaine Leroy Allen, of Faldo Road in Bedford, was charged with three offences following the crash in Kingsbury Road just before 12.30am on November 7.
Officers and London Ambulance Service crews attended and found a woman, in her 60s injured.
She was pronounced dead shortly after and the driver of the car did not stop at the scene.
The Brent & Kilburn Times understands that the woman was born in London and became a US citizen over 30 years ago, with family from DC.
She then moved back to London a few years ago to look after a family member.
A service was held on November 16 in London, and over 150 people attended in person, and over 700 people attended virtually.
Allen, 30, appeared at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on November 13, charged with causing death by dangerous driving, driving with no insurance and failing to stop after an accident.
He was remanded in custody to next appear at the Old Bailey on December 11.
Earlier this month the Metropolitan Police said it was investigating whether the hit-and-run was linked to a police chase roughly two miles away in Colindale.
Officers tried to stop a car as the driver escaped at Lanacre Avenue and fled on foot.
However, the force has now ruled out its connection and said: “There was no police pursuit prior to the collision”.
A Met Police spokesperson added: “Her family continue to be supported by specially trained officers.”
