A former Labour MP has been chosen to lead the group responsible for developing tens of thousands of affordable homes and jobs on London's largest brownfield site.
Dame Karen Buck, who represented Westminster North for 27 years, will become the new chair of the Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation (OPDC).
This follows the announcement that the current chair, Liz Peace, will step down after serving two successful terms.
Mayor of London Sadiq Khan said: "I am delighted to announce my intention to appoint Dame Karen Buck as the new chair of OPDC.
"She brings a wealth of experience, expertise, and knowledge that will strengthen its ambitious regeneration plans for the capital."
As an MP, Dame Karen was behind the private member's bill that led to the Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act 2018.
She has dedicated her career to improving the lives of residents in her former constituency, advocating for communities and campaigning for decent homes.
Dame Karen will officially take up her post on January 1, 2025, subject to a London Assembly confirmation hearing.
She said: "This is such an exciting development with so much potential.
"I am hugely looking forward to working with the board and team at OPDC as it moves into the next phase of delivering the homes and jobs London needs."
