A road was closed to traffic after a Thames Water truck fell into a sinkhole.

The cavity in Oxley's Road, in Dollis Hill, opened up on Friday (September 27) as the water company's tanker drove over it.

AA Traffic News is now reporting that no through traffic is allowed due to water main work in Mount Road, at the junction with Oxleys Road and Pinemartin Close.

It is the sixth time the road has collapsed, the most recent incident in February, according to Robert McDermot, who lives in nearby Broadfield Close.

He said:  "A large Thames Water truck opened up the road while trying to exit the estate.

"It ended up needing to be emptied and then a crane was brought in to remove it."

He claims the truck accidentally ruptured a sewage pipe, adding: "The stench is unbelievable and must be awful for residents. Luckily the weather is cooler now so they can keep their windows closed."

He said it took Thames Water around four hours to remove the vehicle.

Brent Council and Thames Water have both been contacted for more information.
