Wembley Stadium has been given the green light to hold eight additional major non-sporting events a year.
Plans were approved to increase the number of times major events can take place at the 90,000-seat stadium.
An event cap was first introduced after the original stadium was demolished and replaced with its modernised version, limiting the number of major sporting events held at the stadium.
Unlimited additional events were permitted, as long as the number of spectators was below 51,000.
The national stadium, which marked its 100th anniversary this year, now has approval to host up to 54 non-sporting events, instead of 46, each year after a Brent Council planning committee meeting on Wednesday (September 11).
Councillor Shama Tatler, cabinet member for regeneration, growth and planning said: “I’d like to thank everyone who sent in their comments regarding Wembley Stadium’s planning application.
“It’s crucial that the stadium hears feedback from residents. We are proud that Wembley Stadium remains at the heart of our national story, with a storied history dating back over a century.
“Today, Wembley Stadium hosts some of the biggest and best artists in the world.
“This summer, Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour injected an estimated £300million into London’s economy – a significant boost for local businesses and communities.
“Being able to hold additional events will help keep the iconic Wembley Stadium firmly on the global stage.”
