Three brothers were charged after a mother with a young child was stabbed at Notting Hill Carnival.

Shakiel Thibou, of Masbro Road near Holland Park, was today (August 28) charged with attempted murder, violent disorder and possession of an offensive weapon.

The 20-year-old was arrested at an address in Hammersmith and Fulham on Tuesday (August 27).

Two other men, now revealed to be the brothers of Shakiel, were also charged in relation to the same incident.

Police deployed in Golborne Road, near Westbourne Park, were made aware of a stabbing on the ‘family day’ of Notting Hill Carnival (August 25).

Officers, including police medics, gave emergency medical treatment until paramedics arrived.

She was taken to hospital where she remains in a critical condition.

Sheldon Thibou, 24, of Star Road, Fulham, was charged with violent disorder, possession of a stun gun and assaulting an emergency worker.

Shaeim Thibou, 22, of Charleville Road, was charged with violent disorder and assaulting an emergency worker.

All three were remanded to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday morning.

Charmain Brenyah, the Met’s spokesperson for Notting Hill Carnival, previously said: “She came to Carnival to have fun, with her young child, and was caught up in the most awful violence.”

In total there were eight reported stabbings over the two-day event.

Three people were stabbed on the Sunday, as two people had non-life threatening injuries while the mother remains in critical condition.

On Monday, five people were either stabbed or slashed. Three sustained non-life threatening injuries and two men were taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition – but one of the men is now stable.
