A school street zone in Harlesden is set to be expanded and have its hours extended.
The existing zone that covers a section of Crownhill Road between Harlesden Gardens and Manor Park Road will be amended to encompass additional roads.
The zone acts as a pedestrian and cycle zone for local schools including Maple Walk School, St Claudine's Catholic School for Girls, and John Keble Church of England Primary school.
Vehicles on the roads listed in the school zone that are not exempt are subject to restricted hours, meaning they are not permitted to enter the road during peak drop-off and pick-up times.
Brent Council listed a public notice of the intended changes on August 22, with the amended order set to come into force at the start of September.
Currently, the zone in Crownhill Road affects between the south-western kerb-line of Harlesden Gardens, and the north-eastern kerb-line of Manor Park Road.
From September 2, the school street zone will include the following areas:
- Burns Road between the north-western kerb-line of Crownhill Road and the south-eastern kerb-line of Ashdon Road
- Crownhill Road, between the south-western kerb-line of Sellons Avenue and the south-western kerb-line of Harlesden Gardens
- Harlesden Gardens
- St Johns Avenue, between the north-western kerb-line of Crownhill Road and the south-eastern kerb-line of Ashdon Road.
Hours of restriction will also be extended under the order.
From Mondays to Fridays during school term time, the zone applies from 8.15am to 9.15 am, and from 2.30pm until 4.pm.

The afternoon hours will remain unchanged, but the restricted morning hours will start from 7.15am and finish at 9.15am, adding another hour.
Brent Council has described the order as "experimental", and will consider in due course if the order should be made permanent.
As it stands, the order can remain in place for 18 months.
