A thug who strangled and head-butted a woman after an event at Ascot racecourse has been jailed.

Todd Allison, 35, of Old Kenton Lane, Kingsbury, was convicted of non-fatal strangulation, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and criminal damage.

Police said that between 1am and 7am on December 4 last year the woman was at an Ascot racecourse event with Allison.

During the event Allison became agitated and aggressive towards the victim. When they left he continued to direct his anger at her.

They stayed in a car together for around seven hours and during this period Allison became violent. He strangled, head-butted and punched the victim – fracturing her nose and swelling her eye.

The woman made multiple attempts to leave the car but was stopped by Allison, Thames Valley Police said.

Eventually a member of the public noticed them and asked the victim if she was ok.

The victim replied that she was not ok and asked them to call the police.

Allison was arrested and was charged the following day.

On Friday (August 16) he was jailed for two years by a judge at Reading Crown Court.

Todd AllisonTodd Allison (Image: Thames Valley Police) Detective Constable Freya Deeley, who worked on the Domestic Abuse Investigation Unit, said: “I am pleased that Allison has now received a custodial sentence as a result of his unacceptable behaviour against his victim.

“He subjected his victim to hours of verbal and physical abuse. The offending only stopped when a member of the public spotted them in the car, and I would like to thank that person for contacting the police.

“I would also like to pay tribute to the victim, who has shown patience and dignity while we investigated these offences.

“I hope that the fact Allison has now been sentenced to prison will allow the victim to move on with her life.”
