A major road near a busy train station in London has been closed due to “police incident”.
Multiple emergency vehicles were spotted in Duncannon Street near Charing Cross station at around 3.30pm today (August 1).
Pictures, obtained by Newsquest London, show several police officers, a police van and a fire engine as the incident is being dealt with.
A fire fighter can be seen putting out a fire involving a tone of waste inside a City of Westminster bin lorry.
All train services at London Charing Cross remain unaffected by the closure and are operating as normal.
Bus routes 139 and 176 are currently on diversion.
We have contacted Metropolitan Police and London Fire Brigade to confirm the details of the incident.
The full AA maps statement says: “Road closed and slow traffic due to police incident on A4 Duncannon Street One Way Street from A400 St Martin's Place (Trafalgar Square) to (Charing Cross Station).
“Detour in operation - bus Routes Affected: 139, 176.”
