The keys to the first new homes completed in a major regeneration programme have been handed over.
Households are starting to move in to the 47 new homes located in Brent Terrace, the first ready in the Brent Cross Cricklewood regeneration programme.
The street includes a mix of two, three and four-bedroom properties, mainly providing replacement social housing for people living in the Whitefield Estate near the new site.
Resmie Saliasi and her son Ilirian Saliasi were among the newcomers moving into the Brent Terrace homes on Monday (July 8).
The pair had lived at Rawlingson Court, near the Whitefield Estate, for 17 years.
Resmie, 87, said: “I am very happy to be moving in today and excited to be sleeping in my new home this evening.”
She said that the new property is quite accessible, as they have an adapted bathroom and plug sockets installed higher than usual to make it easier for Resmie to live in.
"We’ve waited so long, but we are very happy to be here,” added Ilirian.
All the homes have either a private garden or balcony for the residents.
A new pocket park was also built in the area, as well as new trees and landscaping along Brent Terrace.
The Brent Terrace property is part of a wider regeneration scheme next to the new £8 billion Brent Cross Town neighbourhood, which is being developed with 7,500 new homes.
Construction is still underway on the first new homes at Brent Cross Town itself, with the Plot 12 building expected to have people move in this summer.
