A paramedic was at the side of a woman who had been stabbed in Edgware within two minutes – but she could not be saved.
Emergency services were called to reports of a stabbing in Burnt Oak Broadway just before 12pm today (May 9).
A woman was found at the scene and treated for stab injuries, but died shortly afterwards.
London Ambulance Service (LAS) has confirmed that its first paramedic arrived at the scene within two minutes.
Ambulance crews, a paramedic in a fast response car, an incident response officer and members of LAS’ tactical response unit attended the incident.
A trauma team from London’s Air Ambulance was also dispatched to the scene.
Police have said a crime scene remains in place in Burnt Oak Broadway, and that enquiries are ongoing to inform the woman’s next of kin.
A murder investigation has been launched. No arrests have been made.
Superintendent Tony Bellis, responsible for policing in Edgware, said: “I understand the shock and concern this very sad incident will cause.
“I want to reassure people it will be investigated by a specialist team of experienced homicide detectives, and we will support them in their work to identify and arrest whoever is responsible.
“Local residents will see an increased police presence in the area over the coming days, I would ask the community is patient while officers carry out this vital work.
