Police have launched a murder investigation after a man found with stab wounds in a car died.
Emergency services were called to reports that a man was injured in Sudbury Heights Avenue, Sudbury Hill, at around 5.30pm yesterday evening (March 11).
A 27-year-old man was found in a car by officers and paramedics with suspected stab wounds.
He was rushed to hospital where he died a short time later.
A police spokesperson said that enquiries are ongoing to inform his next of kin and that a crime scene remains in place.
No arrests have been made at this stage of the investigation, and any witnesses are asked to call 101, quoting reference CAD 5384/11Mar.
Detective Chief Inspector Jim Shirley, who is leading the murder investigation, has said that "extensive enquiries" are under way to identify who is responsible.
He added: “Officers have been on scene gathering evidence and securing any relevant CCTV which may assist us building a picture of what took place.
“However, I would appeal to anyone in the area who saw or witnessed events, or any local residents we have yet to speak to who has footage which may captured the incident to get in touch immediately.”
Chief Superintendent Sean Wilson, who is responsible for policing in the area, said: "I understand and share the shock that this incident will cause local residents.
"I want to reassure the community the specialist officers are working diligently to piece together the events of this incident and to apprehend whoever is responsible.
"You will see more officers in and around the area in the days following this incident, including local police.
"If you have any concerns, please speak to them, or if you can help with the investigation then call 101 immediately."
