A thug who almost killed a man by stabbing him seven times has been pictured smirking in his police mugshot.
Benjamin Caliboso, 22, of Sunbeam Crescent, Kensal Green, attacked a man in his 30s in Farnborough, Hampshire, on July 15, 2020.
The victim was airlifted to St George’s Hospital in Tooting where he underwent a life-saving operation before spending two weeks in hospital.
Caliboso left the victim with two deep wounds to his upper left arm, a cut to his right forearm and wounds to his abdomen and thighs.
The 22-year-old was arrested the following month and pleaded guilty to wounding with intent in November 2023.
On Thursday (January 25, 2024) Caliboso was jailed for 11 years by a judge at Winchester Crown Court.
Louise Smith, who led the Hampshire Police investigation, said: “Caliboso carried out a senseless and shocking attack against a defenceless man, who could have lost his life.
“The victim was taken to hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries and the outcome could have been significantly worse.
“Our thoughts remain with the victim, who despite making a full recovery, still lives with the mental and physical scars from this violent attack.
“I would like to thank my colleagues, whose dedication and hard work ensured we had enough evidence to bring this before the courts – it was a real team effort.”
She added: “Anyone who picks up a knife is making a decision which creates the very real risk that you could kill or seriously injure someone.”
