Young people say they "have to be alert" in Wembley after a man was killed in a stabbing near Wembley Stadium.
Police have cordoned off a section of Olympic Way in Wembley Park, restricting access to the front of Novotel and shutting the Costa completely as forensics investigators investigate a fatal stabbing that took place yesterday (September 24).
Police were called at 11pm to reports of an injured man and a man in his mid-20s was found with stab injuries.
He was rushed to hospital where he later died.
The public were diverted around Olympic Way through the Stadium Retail Park towards Boxpark, the stadium and the London Designer Outlet.
Some spoke to the Brent & Kilburn Times about the killing.
One man, Lucas, did not wish to share his surname but said he feels he always has to “be alert” when leaving the house.
The 23-year-old said: “Every time I step out I feel like I have to be alert, I feel like London is getting worse and worse.
“Its not too bad here, of course things happen but I wouldn’t say I’ve seen too many knives in Wembley. Still though it’s scary.”
Louise, a 24-year-old who moved to Wembley less than a year ago, said she regularly goes for walks down Olympic Way with her friends and family.
With her also being in her mid-20s, she said: “I think it’s a reminder that it could happen to anyone, young or old.”
She added: “I think recently I haven’t really been feeling that cautious. I’ve actually felt quite safe, other than a few people that come up to you that can be a bit questionable.
“But I think knowing that someone has actually lost a life near you is a lot.”
Around Wembley Park are a few student accommodation buildings for those studying in the capital. A 20-year-old student, who didn’t wish to give his name, said: “I always hear police sirens in the area. It does make you worried.”
At around 2.30pm, flowers were laid next to the police cordon in memory of the victim.
Over the course of the night until 9am today (September 25), a police Stop and Search order was in place across Brent including Wembley Park, Dollis Hill, Welsh Harp, Willesden Green, Cricklewood & Mapesbury and Tokyngton, due to “several incidents of serious violence”.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said this follows a non-fatal stabbing in Neasden.
A spokesperson said: “Whilst we would of course retain an open mind, there is nothing to suggest the two incidents are linked at this time.”
Enquiries into the two stabbings continue.
