Police have applied to close businesses and homes after storming eight addresses in co-ordinated drug raids.
Footage on social media showed the moment that officers swooped at eight businesses and homes near Park Parade in Harlesden last Wednesday (August 23).
A total of 12 people were arrested on suspicion of offences including stolen goods and possession with intent to supply Class A, B and C drugs – while the Met says “quantities of drugs and stolen property” were recovered.
At the time police said that the force applied for temporary closure orders at eight properties, four of which are commercial and four residential premises.
Inspector Andy Le Geyt of the North West BCU Harlesden Town Centre Team said: “Currently four closure orders have been granted while four have been adjourned for 14 days, but the closure notice remains in place in the meantime.”
A spokesperson for the Met explained that the commercial premises raided included two cafes, a barber’s and a laundrette.
Where have closure order applications been made?
Court documents have revealed the locations of some known closure order applications made in the area:
This includes Sefar Café, on Park Parade, which was first given a notice on July 17. An application for a closure order was submitted for “nuisance or disorder”, but the case was adjourned from July 24.
The case will be heard at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Monday (September 4).
Baraca Hands hair salon, in High Street, Harlesden, also received a notice on July 17. An application for a closure order was submitted for “nuisance or disorder”, but the case was adjourned from July 24, with a hearing also set at Willesden Magistrates’ Court for Monday (September 4).
Officers also made a closure order application for Fortune Launderette & Dry Cleaning, in Park Parade, which was adjourned from July 24. A hearing is due at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Monday (September 4).
An application was also made for El Tacos cafe, in Park Parade, following a notice served on July 18. Documents show the application was made for “nuisance or disorder”, the case was adjourned from July 24 and will be heard at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Monday (September 4).
Two applications were submitted for two homes in Harlesden Gardens after a notice was issued on July 17.
On August 24 the order was granted for three months, with access prohibited to all people except for those involved in management, maintenance or emergency services.
It is not yet known where the remaining residential properties are.
Police say 11 males and 1 female were arrested following the raids.
One person was charged with robbery and possession of crack cocaine and another person was charged with possession of Class B drugs and recalled to prison. He has been released under investigation in respect of alleged handling stolen goods.
Nine of those arrested have been bailed until dates in late October pending further enquiries and one has been released without further action.
Insp Le Geyt said: “These raids are far from the end of the operation.”
