A MURDER hunt is underway after a young electrician was gunned down in a drive-by shooting as he left a takeaway shop. Daniel Omari Smith, from Paddington, was targeted outside KFC in Harrow Road, Paddington, near the junction of Sunderland Avenue, at 12.

A MURDER hunt is underway after a young electrician was gunned down in a drive-by shooting as he left a takeaway shop.

Daniel Omari Smith, from Paddington, was targeted outside KFC in Harrow Road, Paddington, near the junction of Sunderland Avenue, at 12.15am on Saturday.

The 22-year-old was returning to his Ford Focus C-Max when he was shot by a gunman in a moving car.

Mr Smith managed to stumble back to the fast food outlet before losing consciousness.

He died later in hospital.

Floral tributes left at the scene describe Mr Smith, who lived with his mother and two sisters, as having a heart of gold and bringing laughter wherever he went.

Officers from Operation Trident, the Met's specialist team that investigates gun crime in London, are heading the hunt for Mr Smith's killer.

Detective Chief Inspector John Crossley, investigating officer, said: "Daniel had just come out of a takeaway in Harrow Road having purchased food. He was shot as he was returning to his vehicle, a red Ford Focus C-Max.

"He managed to make it back to the takeaway but collapsed and died later.

"He was a young working man and from a loving family. They are devastated by what has happened.

"I would urge any possible witnesses or anyone with information to come forward."
