Harry Redknapp said securing fourth place was vital for QPR as Rangers turn their thoughts to the Championship play-offs later this month.
Rangers drew 1-1 with relegation-threatened Millwall on Saturday, as Charlie Austin’s penalty was cancelled out by Scott Malone’s late equaliser.
That draw, coupled with Wigan Athletic’s defeat to Blackpool, means Rangers will finish fourth – allowing them home advantage in their play-off semi-final against either Reading or Wigan.
“Finishing in fourth was important for us and we’ll give it a right go,” Redknapp said.
“I wanted that second leg at home because I know how important our fans can be.
“Whether it’s Wigan or Reading, I think it was vitally important we got the second leg at home and we’ve done that, so we’re all looking forward to what lies ahead.”
Redknapp admitted his frustration at QPR’s inability to defend their lead, as Rob Green’s goalkeeping error allowed Malone to steal a point in injury time.
Redknapp added: “It was a strange game really.
“We got one up and you’d really have fancied us to go on and see out the game.
“But we conceded a really cheap goal in the 90th minute and it has cost us all three points.
“We never really had control of the game today though, and that’s really disappointing.
“We have got a lot of players in this squad who are really good with the ball, but not so good without it.
“That’s a problem for us at the moment and we just need to find that balance ahead of the play-offs.
“One or two of the lads are coming back to full fitness now and that’s a big positive.
“We just need to be as prepared as we can be for the play-offs and see where it takes us.”
